The Director of Capital Markets is a member of the executive leadership team and works directly with the CEO, CFO, and Controller to manage the firm’s investment capital stack and to interface as required with existing and, is some cases, prospective equity investors. The role could also provide the opportunity to manage a personal book, providing debt origination to 3 rd party borrowers. The successful candidate is
driven from within, is energized by a fast-paced environment, and loves to participate in an organization’s drive toward a common goal. Your leadership will help shape Newman’s future and will be a significant contributor to our continued growth.

Specific Requirements

  • Oversee the firm’s investment capital stack, monitoring existing loans, anticipating and managing recapitalization opportunities and managing any/all restructuring events.
  • Manage existing and create new lender relationships.
  • Review emerging loan requirements and proforma as provided by CEO.
  • Collaborate with heads of marketing, operations, property management, development and accounting to develop all required due-diligence material as well as Newman branded
    pitchbook.
  • Present financing opportunity to the appropriate array of established banking relationships (Community Banks, Life Companies, CMBS, Regional Banks, Debt Funds).
  • Review term sheets with CEO to select the most appropriate alternative.
  • Work with firm’s Counsel to effectively manage documentation, due-diligence material and timely close. Lead loan closing process ensuring timelines are hit to close deal.
  • Manage communications and reporting to existing investors.
  • Lead the process for how we raise capital.
  • Responsible for Quarterly and Year-End Reports to investors.
  • Manage own book of 3 rd party clients, providing debt origination and transaction management.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, economics, accounting, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in commercial mortgage banking/brokerage, preferably with significant experience in retail, mixed use and ground-up development.
  • Experience in investor relations.
  • Proven experience in relationship development/management and in deal origination.
  • Strong understanding of accounting, financial modeling, market analysis, and valuations.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills effectively conveying complex financial information to diverse audiences.
  • History of operating in a team environment, interfacing effectively with other company functions.
